Wat Chedi Luang

Wat Chedi Luang is located in the center of the Old City. King Saen Muang Ma began construction on the temple in 1391 to hold the ashes of his father, Ku Na.

Because this is an active ordination hall, only men can enter the ubosot. Women are not allowed inside select temple structures.

Whether a man or women, if you are not dressed appropriately when you arrive at the entrance, the temples typically have purple robes or over garments to offer you to cover clothing infractions such as shabby shorts or skimpy tops. It’s up to the officials at the gate and it’s not negotiable.
