A mother stops at the southern gate of the Old City on this rainy night to buy her kid a sweet roti treat

This Indian item is called Roti (pronounce “Row Tee”). The dough is made with wheat flour. These stands are almost exclusively run by Muslim Thais. Typically a dessert item. An example is bananas, condensed milk, chocolate and eggs all cooked into a pancake like flatbread then finished with the dusting of powdered sugar and a drizzle of thick condensed milk. The lines are usually steady at these visually appealing, aromatic and tasty food stands.
